Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions: Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting. Performs the installation and functionally testing of electrical/avionics components and systems on aircraft per Engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals ensuring a defect free system. Ensures quality and efficiency of all installations: troubleshoots processes/concepts to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems. Demonstrates the skills and knowledge required. to effectively and efficiently repair or replace defective components and wiring to ensure installations meet conformity. Demonstrates effective repair techniques using acceptable practices including splicing, soldering and pinning of wiring. Performs and complies with engineering changes and modifications as required. Sets up and operates necessary test equipment. Conducts functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability. Ensures that all work performed on the aircraft is properly and completely documented and ready for inspection. Tests and maintains test equipment, electronic systems, and components. Complies with the company FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program and all safety regulations. Adapt to sudden schedule changes. Additional Functions: In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may include flight tests on aircraft as required.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. Four (4) years experience in an avionics/electrical career field. or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics and two (2) years related experience. A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred. Other FCC preferred. Other NCATT preferred. Other Requirements: Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems or disciplines other than avionics, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls or structural installations and repairs. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams. Demonstrates excellent communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and written. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work in confined areas and lift up to 50 pounds.

The Avionics Technician must perform a variety of installation and maintenance tasks on avionics hardware and wiring assemblies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform such typical maintenance functions as cabling, component removal/installation, wire harness removal/installation, fabrication/repair of wire harness assemblies, and continuity checks. Determine if work can safely be accomplished if aircraft is in a power-on mode and be able to conduct necessary testing if in a power-on mode. Follow Customer aircraft maintenance documentation programs. Follow wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, Illustrated Parts Catalog, ATA Codes, Service Bulletins and Maintenance Manuals. Read electrical schematics and use them to troubleshoot and repair aircraft avionics systems. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Be familiar with ESD processes and requirements Be aware of EWIS requirements Must efficiently perform tasks. Follow all safety procedures and specifications with appropriate PPE. Execute all required paperwork as work is being completed in connection with assigned normal duties. Use and operate ground support equipment, as applicable and if qualified, in a safe manner. Complete assignments with little or no rework. Act as a mentor and help train less experienced avionics technicians. Interface effectively with members of management, other departments, and co-workers. Perform other work as instructed by the Avionics Lead or Maintenance Supervisor, if qualified.

High School diploma or equivalent. Must provide own tools as indicated on company tool list. Language (read, write, speak, and understand English). 18+ months of experience troubleshooting and effecting Avionics repairs on Military, Commercial transport aircraft Subject to noise more than 85 dbs. Be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time and climb ladders and/or service stands. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and requires the use of all safety equipment. Must be able to breathe through a full-face respirator. Employees with facial hair will be required to purchase a hood to meet respirator requirements. Job requires participation in the DOT random drug and alcohol testing program. Normal or corrected hearing. Capable of lifting fifty (50) pounds. Minimum visual acuity of 20/40 corrected. Assign and schedule tasks to technicians based on skill set, as directed by the Project Manager and in accordance with company policies and procedures. Monitor workers allocated to his/her control and provide clear on the job instructions. Provide On-The-Job training, orientation and direction to apprentices and technicians. May delegate this function to qualified technicians. Execute the project plan for your area of expertise as provided by the Project Manager. Manage the work scope for your area of expertise within the project budget as set out by the Project Manager. Review work cards for your area of expertise and ensure that the Work Package reflects the actual status of the project. Carry out tasks on the aircraft when all other Lead Technician duties are accomplished. Provide technical assistance and guidance to the technicians on the crew. Ensure all partial work documentation is completed. The documentation should allow the status of a work card to “stand alone” without relying on other means (example; post-it notes, etc.). Partial work documentation includes continuation sheets, service bulletins used as continuation sheets, shift turnover reports, etc. Verify daily time cards. Responsible to ensure that crew members are billing their time to projects appropriately and that all time is accounted for. Responsible to ensure crew members are working productively throughout the duration of their shift. Responsible to ensure crew members follow company policies and procedures including evaluating the quality of work with his/her team. Make certain his/her team members comply with safety policies and procedures. Ensure equipment being used to perform required tasks is acceptable, serviceable and handled in a safety conscious manner. Responsible to ensure work environment is safe and clean, and maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
