As a Lead A&P Mechanic you will be responsible for supervising and performing routine and non-routine maintenance on commercial aircraft.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assign and schedule tasks to technicians based on skill set, as directed by the Project Manager and in accordance with company policies and procedures. Monitor workers allocated to his/her control and provide clear on the job instructions. Provide On-The-Job training, orientation and direction to apprentices and technicians. May delegate this function to qualified technicians. Execute the project plan for your area of expertise as provided by the Project Manager. Manage the work scope for your area of expertise within the project budget as set out by the Project Manager. Review work cards for your area of expertise and ensure that the Work Package reflects the actual status of the project. Carry out tasks on the aircraft when all other Lead Technician duties are accomplished. Provide technical assistance and guidance to the technicians on the crew. Ensure all partial work documentation is completed. The documentation should allow the status of a work card to “stand alone” without relying on other means (example; post-it notes, etc.). Partial work documentation includes continuation sheets, service bulletins used as continuation sheets, shift turnover reports, etc. Verify daily time cards. Responsible to ensure that crew members are billing their time to projects appropriately and that all time is accounted for. Responsible to ensure crew members are working productively throughout the duration of their shift. Responsible to ensure crew members follow company policies and procedures including evaluating the quality of work with his/her team. Make certain his/her team members comply with safety policies and procedures. Ensure equipment being used to perform required tasks is acceptable, serviceable and handled in a safety conscious manner. Responsible to ensure work environment is safe and clean, and maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

Requirements

10+ years aircraft maintenance experience with at least 2+ recent years in a leadership role. A&P License Have own tools Adhere to standard procedures and policies. Accurately and legibly, record the maintenance or alteration on the proper repair station and/or customer supplied forms including their signature or initials and employee number. Able to perform intermediate/heavy maintenance tasks with little supervision. Perform flight control and engine throttle rigging.

Minimum 2 years aircraft technician experience. 737/ MD80 Experience Required. A320 experience, preferred. Active A&P License Must Have Own Tools Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Researches technical data and performs fabrication of plastic aircraft parts, accessories, and trim in accordance with applicable maintenance manuals, FAA regulations and Ascent Aviation policies and procedures. Cuts fiberglass, kevlar or graphite cloth to size, following template or blueprints, using cutting machine, scissors, or knife. Marks identifying information on material and assembles materials in kits for subsequent laminating. Applies parting agent to mold or bonding fixture. Impregnates cloth with resins by dipping cloth in solutions, feeding cloth between rollers to impregnating machine, or brushing resin onto cloth. Applies layers of impregnated cloth or prepreg onto mold or fixture in predetermined ply sequence, and presses cloth to fit contours of mold, smooth surface, and remove air pockets and excess resin, using squeegee, scraper, spatula or roller. Fits and laps ends of cloth, using scissors or knife. Encases molded laminate in bagging material and bleeder cloth, attached vacuum bagging apparatus, such as thermocouples, probes, and vacuum connections, to mold or bonding fixture, and exhausts air from vacuum bag to seal laminate for curing. Tests seal on vacuum bagging apparatus, using leak detector. Trims, drills, deburrs, grinds, sands, and finishes cured parts to specifications, using templates, fixtures, handtools, and power tools. Pre-fits and assembles cured parts into assemblies or subassemblies, using jigs, fixtures, power tools, and fasteners, such as rivets and bolts. Performs cold/hot metal bonding. Applies adhesives to surface of assembled parts for bonding in autoclave.

Requirements

5+ year’s composite or structures work experience preferred. A License preferred. Current valid Arizona driver’s license with clear driving record for past three years required. Must have own tools - must be etched at in a toolbox High School diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary education or training in composites or equivalent combination of education, training or experience required. Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and SMS compliance. Will participate in safety activities including the following: immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries. Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance and equipment operation requirements.

Holds part against polish wheel and/or moves polishing equipment over surfaces of workpiece to remove fine scratches and to achieve specified finish. Performs minor filling operations related to the cosmetic appearance of the part being worked. Polishes recessed areas with fine grade emery cloth and performs masking operations, Assists and learns calculation of mix ratios in order to mix paint, sealant and other materials. Ensures compliance with environmental regulations and maintains records in accordance with these environmental regulations. Performs hand and spray application of primer and topcoat to aircraft parts. Completes and maintains necessary paperwork for documenting processes performed.
