The primary duties of this position are to install, troubleshoot, inspect, test, adjust, repair, and/or modify avionics systems, sub-systems and equipment installed on aircraft, in accordance to applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Responsible to assist in the supervision of labor, provide technical knowledge and evaluate material requirements, upon request.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Interprets and installs avionic system in accordance with installation drawings, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents with minimal or no supervision. Responsible for inspecting components of avionics equipment for defects and examines accuracy of assembly and installation. Troubleshoots to determine malfunctions on aircraft avionics components and electrical system components. Accountable for testing avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness of aircraft. Provides analysis of tests results to identify adjustments, repairs, or replacement of defective components. Assures that only tooling and equipment in current calibration is utilized for installation, repairs, or modifications of aircraft avionics/electronic system. May accompany flight crew to perform in-flight adjustments/tests and to determine/record required post-flight repair work. Inspects and tests aircraft communications components, navigation components, weather radar, auto pilot, compass systems, and accessories, certifying that all meet manufacturer’s specifications. Responsible for completing all reports, forms, and checklists as required in accordance with company, government, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Complies with all safety requirements and uses all mandated safety equipment in accordance with company, government, and OSHA requirements. Assists coworkers and those in other departments to successfully perform job duties and functions when necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 3 years of Boeing 737 experience. For this position, a current Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) or Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license is preferred. Must have current driver’s license. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, installation drawings or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the garner public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, aera, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract an concrete variables. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs bonding of metallic or nonmetallic materials to fabricate parts for aircraft applications using products and processes are varied but generally not complex in scope. The level of work performed requires some skill and experience. Works under regular supervision applying standard procedures and solutions to meet work requirements. Priorities are determined by management. Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications sketches, job orders, planning documents and engineering drawings. Determines equipment requirements and the method and sequences of operation to be followed in fabrication of parts using materials such as graphite, fiberglass, plastic, boron, flock, mat, epoxy resins, rubber and like materials. Plans, lays out, fabricates and builds adhesive bonded assemblies of metallic and nonmetallic composite materials. Fabricate composite and metal parts into subassemblies for the purpose of pre-fitting in preparation for bonding/curing in presses, ovens, and autoclaves. Lays out, prefits, assemble and performs lay-up on a variety of metal to metal and composite bonded assemblies. Fits core in panels where close tolerances are required for installation of details for completion of assembly. Performs vacuum bagging for Autoclave cures up to 100 psi. Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or uses templates. Selects tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions.

Drills holes of varying sizes in detail parts and subassemblies according to work instructions. Installs blind rivets, Jo-Bolts, hilocks, huck bolts, solid rivets and bolts, drives and bucks rivets to attach and assemble detail parts to structural parts and complete subassemblies to written and verbal work instructions. Inspects completed assemblies for conformance to specifications. Completes and maintains necessary paperwork for documenting processes performed.
