This Sheetmetal Mechanic is responsible for fabricating, repairing, replacing, or rebuilding aircraft structures, repair parts, and special tools, in accordance with policies, procedures, requirements, and specifications established by the company, applicable government agencies, and aircraft manufactures as contained in approved Maintenance Manuals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Requirements

Two (2) years’ experience in heavy aircraft maintenance, preferably with an airline and/or MRO aircraft company. Must have thorough working knowledge of all forms and documents required to support heavy maintenance service, including, but not limited to Company policy and procedure manuals, FAR’s, AD’s, Service Bulletins, and Maintenance Manuals. Able to read and interpret technical manuals, instructions, blueprints, and drawings. Efficient in the use and application of tools, gauges, instruments, etc. necessary for the accomplishment of duties assigned. Must have an understanding and working knowledge of hazardous material handling and disposal as related to the job assignment. Valid and current Airframe and Powerplant license REQUIRED. Possesses working knowledge of ATA Codes (Chapter and Subchapters) as well as aircraft zones, narrow body airframe familiarization, and industry standards. Reads maintenance manuals to identify and locate aircraft components on the aircraft, and accurately implements instructions of maintenance manuals. Identifies the structural composition of aircraft (i.e., aluminum or composite) prior to performing any work on the structure. Performs repairs on noted discrepancies, and effectively researches manufacturer’s manuals for appropriate repair procedures prior to performing repairs. Prepares and maintains simple records such as work order documentation, logs, and time and material records, as instructed. Follows safety procedures and wears/uses appropriate safety equipment for the work being performed. Reads instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work. Performs other duties as assigned.
