This Sheetmetal Mechanic is responsible for fabricating, repairing, replacing, or rebuilding aircraft structures, repair parts, and special tools, in accordance with policies, procedures, requirements, and specifications established by the company, applicable government agencies, and aircraft manufactures as contained in approved Maintenance Manuals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Must have working knowledge and the ability to fabricate, repair, replace, or rebuild aircraft structures, repair parts, and special tools. Heavy phase maintenance experience on other military aircraft types may be considered. Works according to written and/or verbal instructions. Performs all work assigned in accordance with approved maintenance procedures. Records work performed and assumes responsibility for that work as indicated by his/her signature. Uses blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and Maintenance Manuals in performance of assigned duties. Performs touch up painting as needed (within task area). May do experimental and developmental work as assigned.

Requirements

Two (2) years’ experience in heavy aircraft maintenance, preferably with an airline and/or MRO aircraft company. Must have thorough working knowledge of all forms and documents required to support heavy maintenance service, including, but not limited to Company policy and procedure manuals, FAR’s, AD’s, Service Bulletins, and Maintenance Manuals. Able to read and interpret technical manuals, instructions, blueprints, and drawings. Efficient in the use and application of tools, gauges, instruments, etc. necessary for the accomplishment of duties assigned. Must have an understanding and working knowledge of hazardous material handling and disposal as related to the job assignment. Valid and current Airframe and Powerplant license is a plus. Performs paint application to original equipment manufactured (OEM) structural parts, components and subsystems for aircraft applications using products and processes that are varied and moderately complex to complex in scope to apply primer, topcoat paint, and any spray-applied coatings to aircraft parts consistent with government, customer and company standards. The level of work requires experience and sound judgment. Reads and interprets specifications and documents to define the scope of work on work orders. Cleans grease and dirt from product. Removes rust from metal with acid, wire brush, or steel wool. Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated. Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface. Computes mix ratios in order to mix paint materials. Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color. Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose. Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray. Selects the appropriate personal protective equipment for the operation to be performed. When using a respirator ensures the respirator is working properly and is properly worn. Applies spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish using protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer. Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush. Heats and sprays wax onto products after they are tested. Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent. Ensures compliance with environment regulations and maintains records in accordance with these environment regulations.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D. and Two (2) or more years of experience in aircraft painting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on corporate aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and company standards Complete airframe, powerplant, structural, and systems maintenance on business jets and related aircraft systems Read and interpret maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical discrepancies and perform corrective actions Complete accurate maintenance documentation, corrective actions, and logbook entries in compliance with FAR Part 43 requirements Coordinate with maintenance control, inspection, and materials teams to support on-time return-to-service goals Perform inspections and support final RTS sign-offs as required Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Support team operations, assist other technicians, and ensure all work meets company quality and safety standards Senior-level technicians may assist with training junior mechanics, assigning tasks, and leading maintenance projects

Requirements

Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License required 5-7 years of aircraft maintenance experience required Corporate aviation maintenance experience required Experience on business jets required Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Advanced troubleshooting and inspection experience preferred Preferred Aircraft Experience: Challenger 300, Global Express, Gulfstream GIV, Gulfstream G450, Cessna Citation X, Cessna Citation 560XL
