Clean corrosion and treat metal surfaces per the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications. Apply corrosion preventatives and know to which areas of the aircraft corrosion inhibiting liquids may not be applied. Accomplish simple sheet metal repairs or simple replacements of structural parts. Fabricate replacement covering, panels or fairings by using the removed parts as samples. Understand and practice correctly basic sealing procedures of aircraft Identify the locations of pressurized areas of the aircraft. Open and close areas on the aircraft which are required to be opened for inspection. May affect bonded repairs of honeycomb structures. Ensure work performed meets FAA and customer standards. Follow standards of behavior and appearance for all staff members. Ask questions as necessary to increase knowledge or skill. Maintain work area in an orderly and clean manner. Clean and remove any foreign objects generated during the course of effecting repairs.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 3+ years of experience on heavy commercial aircraft. Prior experience on B737 highly preferred. Must have minimum required tools.

Prepares and maintains simple records such as work order documentation, turn over logs, and time and material records, as instructed. Reads task cards and follows them accurately to accomplish paint job ensuring FAA, emergency and other customer placards are correct. Follows safety procedures and wears/uses appropriate safety equipment for the work being performed. Complies with all safety procedures at all times, without exception. Records time worked as directed by supervisor. Performs work standards that meet and comply with all federal, customer and company policies and procedures which apply. Keeps informed of policies and procedures and asks supervisor for explanations if needed. Maintains work-related training and qualifications as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum three (3) years of aircraft paint experience High School Diploma or GED required. Familiar with 14 CFR Part 91/121 or 145 preferred. Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English regarding safety sensitive work activities, per FAA requirements.
