A Sheetmetal Mechanic III is responsible for high proficiency in all minor through major repairs, modifications, E.A.s, and with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Remove and replace various aircraft components with the use of special tooling and ground support equipment following oral and written instructions such as supervisor’s directives and manuals to complete all routine and non-routine assignments in a timely manner. Ability to layout work using bend radius, set back and bend allowance charts, utilization of shop math, install and/or splice spars, landing gear, trunion changes, pressure bulkhead repairs and keal beam repairs/ removal and reinstall. Perform the duties of and provide the necessary training for lower skill levels. Maintain and store tools in a serviceable condition. Adhere to safe maintenance practices and keep a clean work area. Maintain and supply personal records of work performed on OJT forms for the Training Department. Successfully complete any courses deemed necessary by the Training Department. Perform any work that may be assigned by his or her supervisor.

Requirements

11 - 20 years’ experience of heavy structures on commercial aircraft. Passenger to Cargo conversions is a plus Minimum Required Tools (Etched before Arrival). Operating knowledge of shop equipment to include, drill presses, shears, brakes, and band saws. Capable of performing structural repairs on floor beams, fuselage skin repairs, to include stringers, doublers, and triplers. Capable of performing floor beam, and frame installations / repairs. Capable of performing basic repairs, blend outs, and reinforcing repairs. Corrosion removal, damage evaluation, and finish restoration. Ability to read and interpret SRM damage limits, and repairs. Working knowledge of IPCs. Ability to read, interpret, plan and work from complex SRM’s, Blueprints, Service Bulletins, ADs, EAs, and EO’s. Working knowledge of cold working, roto peening, and freeze plug installations a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Record the results of all inspections performed on the proper inspection forms used by the repair station in accordance with this Inspection Procedures Manual. Be thoroughly familiar with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, specifications, tolerances, limits, inspection methods, techniques, and equipment used in their area of responsibility to determine the quality of the work performed and the airworthiness of the article. Maintain proficiency with various types of inspection aides used for the inspection of a particular item. Conduct all required inspections in accordance with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer’s approved data, any customer’s approved program data, and the policies and procedures contained in this Inspection Procedures Manual. Ensure current specifications involving inspection tolerances, limits, and procedures recommended by the manufacturer of the product undergoing inspection and other forms of applicable inspection information are available for reference. Other examples of inspection information would be FAA Airworthiness Directives, manufacturer’s bulletins, approved customer data, and Federal Aviation Regulations. Make final airworthiness determination prior to “Return of Service” on items they are authorized to inspect for any article maintained or altered by this repair station. Reject any work or parts that have not been properly maintained or altered in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer’s approved data, customer approved data and the policies and procedures contained within this manual. Support the company Safety Program

Tools shall be identified with a number unique to the owner. Multiple items too small to identify (apexs, drill bits, etc.) will be placed in a container. The quantity of items, to include the container itself, shall be readable on the outside of the container. Each item shall be listed on a “Master Tool Box” inventory. A copy shall be on file in QA and one copy in the owner’s tool box. Facial Hair (Men) – Beards and mustaches, if worn, will be neatly trimmed to an approximate ¼” maximum. Tattoos, brandings or body marks on the head, neck, face, tongue, lips, and/or scalp are prohibited. Hand tattoos are limited to one single-band ring tattoo, on one finger, on one hand. Shoes – When working in safety and/or industrial flight line environment, shoes must follow OSHA guidelines. Can wear tennis shoes (Black is preferred) Site Specific Uniforms – (All) – Standardized dress at our hangar locations include site specific color uniform pants (responsibility of the employee to provide), blue or white shirts. NO shorts or blue jeans. Can wear Dickies or Cargo pants (BLACK OR NAVY BLUE)
