The Aircraft Painter I prepares the aircraft for paint related operations by performing tasks safely within schedule while meeting quality expectations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Mask, sand, and prepare aircraft for paint application.
Apply glazing and sealing compounds in preparation for final painting.
Operate and maintain all types of preparation and priming equipment. Mix paints and primers.
Perform leading edge sealant work in final detail.
Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Use personal protective equipment and ensure aircraft interior is protected (PTP).
Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools as assigned.
Comply with Paint shop standard practices.
Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
One (1) year of painting experience. A working knowledge of paint processes and products (lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics).
High school diploma/GED.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
Able to pass Pulmonary Function Test to obtain respirator certification.
Ability to use tools, equipment, and materials in the aircraft painting process. Able to climb ladders and stairs, perform close tolerance work, work in small spaces lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift.
Must be computer literate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Masking, stripping, prepping, painting and detailing.
Apply primer and finish coats to aircraft parts or body of aircraft.
Layout paint schemes and designs.
Set up and operate typical shop equipment such as orbital sanders, dye grinders, paint guns and other general shop equipment and tools to complete work assignments based on customer specifications.
Uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all safety rules as required in compliance with OSHA standards.
Experienced with Scissor and Boom lift operations.
Additional tasks may be assigned based on customer specifications and demands.
Requirements
Must have 3-5 years’ paint experience on commercial aircraft.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
Closed toe shoes or boots (no open toed shoes).
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs assembly of original equipment manufacturing of parts, components and subsystems for aircraft applications using products and processes are varied but generally not complex in scope to apply primer, topcoat paint, and any spray-applied coatings to aircraft parts consistent with government, customer and company standards. The level of work performed requires some skill and experience. Priorities are determined by management.
Reads and interprets specifications and documents to define the scope of work on work orders.
Cleans grease and dirt from product. Removes rust from metal with acid, wire brush, or steel wool. Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated. Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface.
Computes mix ratios in order to mix paint materials. Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color. Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose. Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.
Selects the appropriate personal protective equipment for the operation to be performed. When using a respirator ensures the respirator is working properly and is properly worn.
Applies spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish using protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer. Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush. Heats and sprays wax onto products after they are tested. Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
Ensures compliance with environment regulations and maintains records in accordance with these environment regulations.
Requirements
Technical school and two (2) to four (4) or more years of aircraft or formal automotive painting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
