How do I register to become an APA Services Contractor?
There are two ways you can register with APA Services. One is to fax us an up-to-date resume to (817) 560-5456, the other is to visit our website at http://www.apaservices.net/ submit your resume online.
How much experience is required to be considered for aviation contract employment?
When our clients are hiring contractors, they are typically looking for people that can hit the ground running and that require very little direction. For this reason, we recommend that you at least have a minimum of two years experience in the aviation industry before inquiring about contract assignments.
Do I have to have my own tools to be considered for aviation contract employment?
Yes. In almost all cases you will be required to report to your assignment with your own tools. In some cases you may even be required to have a shadowed tool box and your tools etched for personal identification. On rare occasions, a client may have a consolidated tool box in the area that you will be working and in this case you would not be required to have or bring your tools.
What do I have to do in order to be eligible for Per Diem pay?
You must put your Per Diem address, which is an address that is over 50 miles away from the work site, on your Certificate of Permanent residence, W-4 and I-9 forms.
Will I be able to get a Cash Advance when I arrive at my contract assignment and if so, what is the maximum amount I can request?
Yes. When you arrive at your assignment destination, you will need to call your recruiter so that they can process your advance. You MUST have at least 16 verifiable hours on the clock in order to be eligible for an advance. The maximum amount you can request is $200.00.
How often can I expect to receive my paycheck from APA Services?
Paychecks are delivered weekly to the job site or mailed via US Mail to the address indicated by the employee. Direct Deposit into our employees' personal bank accounts is available.
How can I ensure that my W-2 will be mailed and delivered in a timely manner?
By law, APA Services is required to send out all employee W-2 forms on or before January 31st. It is your responsibility as the employee to keep our payroll department notified of any changes in address. If you are expecting to receive a W-2 and have moved one or more times since your last assignment with us, we recommend updating your information. If APA Services does not have a good address on you, the employee, we will most likely hold your W-2 form at our corporate office until Payroll is given further mailing instructions by you, the employee.
Will I be required to be in compliance with a uniform policy, and what is the typical dress code for companies that
don't have a required uniform policy?
Yes. Some of our clients do have a uniform policy that applies to contract employee as well as direct employees. In this case, you will be required to purchase uniforms to meet the minimal requirements. The typical Dress Code for a FBO and/or Completion Center includes having a neat, clean-cut appearance, work pants or jeans, shirt or t-shift (non-offensive), and in some cases steel toe boots.
If I'm scheduled to start an assignment with APA Services and for ever what reason I am going to be unable to report as scheduled, is it important to contact my recruiter?
YES, ABSOLUTELY! If you are going to reschedule or back out all together it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you notify your recruiter so that we can let our client know what is going on. If you do not call and do not show up for the assignment you have committed to, you will be considered a No Show and may not be eligible for consideration for future contract assignments.
If I have been in trouble with the law in my past can I still be considered for contract Aviation employment with APA Services?
Depending on the significance of the offense you could be disqualified from obtaining authority to have unescorted access privileges to the security identification display areas of an airport. The following is a listing of FAA disqualifiers:
- Forgery of certificates, false making of aircraft, and other aircraft registration violations.
- Interference with aircraft navigation.
- Improper transportation of a hazardous material.
- Aircraft piracy.
- Interference with flight crewmembers or flight attendants.
- Commission of certain crimes aboard aircraft in flight.
- Carrying a weapon or explosive aboard an aircraft.
- Conveying false information and threats.
- Aircraft piracy outside the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States.
- Lighting violations involving transporting controlled substances.
- Unlawful entry into an aircraft or airport area that serves air carriers or foreign air carriers contrary to established security requirements.
- Destruction of an aircraft or aircraft facility.
- Murder.
- Assault with intent to murder.
- Espionage.
- Sedition.
- Kidnapping or hostage taking.
- Treason.
- Rape or aggravated sexual abuse.
- Unlawful possession, use, sale, distribution, or manufacture of an explosive or weapon.
- Extortion.
- Armed robbery
- Distribution of, or intent to distribute, a controlled substance.
- Conspiracy or attempt to commit any of the aforementioned criminal acts.
- Felony arson.
